This Insurance Policy (“Policy”) outlines the requirements and responsibilities regarding insurance coverage for independent contractors (“Service Providers”) who offer services through the Fixz App (“Fixz,” “we,” “our,” or “us”).
By registering and offering services on the Platform, Service Providers agree to comply with the insurance requirements set forth in this Policy.
1. Purpose
The purpose of this Policy is to:
Protect Customers, Service Providers, and Fixz from financial losses arising from accidents, damages, or injuries.
Ensure that Service Providers engaged in high-risk services operate responsibly and in compliance with applicable laws in the UAE and UK.
2. Applicability
This Policy applies to all Service Providers on the Fixz Platform.
Mandatory Insurance: Service Providers performing high-risk services (including but not limited to electricians, plumbers, movers, HVAC technicians, construction workers, etc.) must maintain valid insurance coverage.
Optional Insurance: Service Providers in lower-risk categories are encouraged, but not required, to maintain insurance coverage.
3. Required Insurance Coverage
All high-risk Service Providers must, at their own expense, maintain the following:
Public Liability Insurance
Covers bodily injury, death, or property damage to Customers or third parties during service.
Minimum coverage limit: as required by UAE law or UK law (whichever applies).
Professional Indemnity Insurance (where applicable)
Protects against claims of negligence, errors, or omissions in professional services.
Employer’s Liability Insurance (if the Service Provider employs staff)
Required by law in the UK; strongly recommended in the UAE.
Worker’s Compensation Insurance (if employing staff)
Provides medical and wage benefits to employees injured at work.
4. Proof of Insurance
Service Providers must submit proof of valid insurance to Fixz before accepting bookings in high-risk categories.
Insurance documents must be current and renewed before expiry.
Fixz reserves the right to verify coverage at any time and suspend accounts that fail to comply.
5. Responsibilities of Service Providers
Maintain valid insurance policies as required.
Immediately inform Fixz of any lapse, cancellation, or modification in coverage.
Cooperate with Fixz and Customers in the event of an insurance claim.
Bear full responsibility for any claims, damages, or liabilities not covered by insurance.
6. Limitation of Fixz’s Role
Fixz is a technology platform and does not provide insurance to Service Providers.
Fixz does not act as an insurer, agent, or broker.
Service Providers are solely responsible for obtaining and maintaining adequate coverage.
7. Claims & Disputes
In the event of an incident, Customers and Service Providers should resolve claims directly through the Service Provider’s insurance provider.
Fixz may assist in facilitating communication but is not responsible for claim resolution.
8. Governing Law
For Service Providers in the UAE: This Policy is governed by the laws of the United Arab Emirates.
For Service Providers in the UK: This Policy is governed by the laws of England and Wales.
